Everything You Need to Know About the Retinal Infusion MLV10 Serum
VENN’s new Retinal Infusion MLV10 Serum is redefining retinoid skincare. Powered by next-generation delivery systems and clinically proven actives, this high-strength formula is designed to deliver transformative results with minimal irritation. Below, we’ve answered your most frequently asked questions.
What’s the difference between Retinol, Retinal, and Phyto-Retinol?
Retinol is a well-known Vitamin A derivative that helps improve fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven tone. Once applied, it must convert into Retinaldehyde (Retinal) and then into Retinoic Acid—the active form responsible for visible skin renewal.
Retinal (Retinaldehyde) is one step closer to Retinoic Acid, making it up to 11x more efficient than Retinol. However, it’s unstable and degrades easily. VENN addresses this by encapsulating Retinal in a multi-lamellar liposomal delivery system, stabilizing its potency while enhancing efficacy and tolerability.
Phyto-Retinol refers to plant-derived alternatives that mimic retinoid effects without being chemically related to Vitamin A. VENN uses Bakuchiol, derived from the Babchi plant, which promotes collagen production and cell turnover—delivering visible results with a gentler touch.
How much Retinal is in the formula?
The serum contains 10% Multi-Lamellar Liposome Complex, which itself holds 1% Retinal—resulting in a final Retinal concentration of 0.1%.
What’s the difference between the Multi-Lamellar Liposome Complex and VENN’s patented Multi-Layer Vehicle Delivery System?
The Multi-Lamellar Liposome Complex is designed to encapsulate a single ingredient—Retinal—within bilayer liposomes to protect it from oxidation and boost delivery.
VENN’s Multi-Layer Vehicle Delivery System, on the other hand, uses multiple alternating layers, each infused with different actives. This layered structure allows for controlled, sequential delivery of various hydrophilic and hydrophobic ingredients, enhancing overall performance.
How should I use the Retinal Infusion MLV10 Serum?
Use at night only. After cleansing and toning, apply 1–2 pumps to dry skin, avoiding the eye and lip areas. Wait 1–2 minutes, then follow with a moisturizer—ideally one that supports the skin barrier, like VENN’s Vitamin B Activated All-In-One Concentrate or Concentrated Revitalizing Lifting Mask.
If you’re new to retinoids, start with 1–2 applications per week and increase frequency as tolerated. Avoid combining it with AHAs, BHAs, or other potent actives in the same routine—alternate their usage on different nights instead.
Will this serum make my skin more sensitive to the sun?
Yes. As with all retinoids, Retinal increases photosensitivity. Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) in the morning and avoid prolonged sun exposure while using the serum.
Can I use this if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Retinal (Retinaldehyde) is a Vitamin A derivative, and its use is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please consult your physician before use if you are pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive.
Is the formula safe for sensitive skin?
Yes—with caution. Introduce it gradually (1–2 times per week) and monitor how your skin reacts. Mild redness or dryness can occur initially. Avoid applying to delicate areas such as eyelids or lips, and never combine with other retinoids or strong actives on the same day. If irritation develops, pause use and replenish hydration before resuming.
